Resist 86 is an 85% zinc ethyl silicate primer for severe corrosive environments. Resist 86 is a high-volume solids, inorganic zinc silicate coating with 85% zinc dust, designed as a primer for coating systems where extended durability is required. Resist 86 provides very good corrosion protection when used as part of a coating system in atmospheric conditions and is heat resistant up to 540 °C. It is suitable for use on properly prepared carbon steel substrates and is easy to apply. Resist 86 complies with ASTM D520 type II zinc dust and has pre-qualification of NORSOK System 1.
Pre-qualification testing in accordance with NORSOK M-501, Rev. 5, System 1, suitable for exterior exposure in offshore environment, below 120 °C.
Suitable for use in mating surfaces of High Strength Friction Grip Bolted Connections:
Complies with the requirements of Research Council on Structural Connections (RCSC) Class B, Appendix A (Slip coefficient and resistance to tension creep).
